The Most Canceled Subscriptions of 2023

Stockholm, December 14, 2023 – It has been a tough economic year, and when Swedes need to save money, many choose to cut down on certain fixed costs. A year-end summary from Anyfin now shows which subscriptions were most frequently canceled in 2023.

Interest rates continue to rise, housing and food costs are skyrocketing – these are still uncertain economic times, and Swedes need to prioritize their expenses. Many are choosing to cancel their subscriptions.

The fintech company Anyfin launched its subscription service in 2022, allowing users to review and cancel their subscriptions directly in the app.

It turns out that streaming services, gyms, audiobook services, and membership organizations are the most canceled. Here are the streaming services and subscriptions that were canceled the most (percentage of all cancellations in the app during 2023):

  • Fitness24Seven: 13.7%
  • Nextory: 11.6%
  • Swedish Union of Tenants: 9.6%
  • Disney+: 9.1%
  • Viaplay: 8.1%
  • Nordic Wellness: 7.1%
  • Storytel: 7.0%
  • Discovery+: 6.1%
  • HBO Max: 6.0%
  • Netflix: 5.3%

"2023 has been a tough economic year, especially for the wallets of Swedes. Therefore, we see that the trend of canceling subscriptions will continue into 2024, as it is an easy way to save a few hundred kronor," says Felix Sjöholm, financial health expert at Anyfin.

Anyfin's financial health expert Felix Sjöholm holds a degree in economics from the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg and has previously worked as a client manager and analyst at various companies in the finance industry.
